I am excited to announce that third through fifth grade Washington students will receive a grant, through Art Encounter called Language of Art, funded by Evanston Community Foundation. The Language of Art is an art and writing integration program that focuses on developing literacy in the arts. The grant will take place in students' visual art classes during the month of January.
K-2 students started the 2017-18 school year in art making connections through literature, art history and visual art. Students focus on taking creative risks and helping support classmates, while learning The Elements and Principles of Art and Design following D65 art curriculum. Students will continue to explore and revisit these themes throughout the year.
Students in third through fifth grades participate in a print-making project for the 65/202 Art Show making connections to art history and the poem “Cloud” by Sandra Cisneros. The 65/202 Art Show will open at Evanston Township High School on Wednesday, November 15th from 6-8pm. All schools in District 65 and District 202 participate. Please see details above for further information and details. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this community art event. Ten Washington students will be featured in the Annual art exhibition.
